Welcome to Martha's House

Martha's House, Inc. is a forty bed emergency shelter providing temporary housing for residents of Monroe, Lawrence, and Owen counties experiencing homelessness. Individuals not living in these counties can stay up to 10 days, while the staff help them find temporary shelter in or near their home community.

In addition to providing for basic needs of housing, food, clothing, and personal hygiene, the shelter offers case management designed to support residents as they identify their needs and develop strategies to stabilize their lives. This case management includes job coaching, money management, and assistance in identifying local resources and housing options. Because many of the residents staying in shelter work, case management meetings are offered during the afternoon and evening to eliminate possible schedule conflicts that could disrupt work commitments and compromise residents' employment.

Our Mission Statement

The Martha's House mission is to provide safe shelter while working with the community to end homelessness. Our vision is one of a community where everyone has a home.

Martha's House Expansion

Martha's house has expanded from 24 to 40 beds with renovated bathroom facilities for men and women along with a small kitchen capacity.
